Rishikesh is a small town, that lies in the foothills of the Himalayas, scenically located where the Holy Ganges River comes down from the Himalayas. Rishikesh catapulted to Western fame when the Beatles dropped by for a visit to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Ashram. Also, Rishikesh is known as the Yoga capital of the world. Rishikesh is associated with Lord Rama and Laxman.
Morning Yoga Practice and visit Neelgadu waterfall. Himalayan foothill trek to a waterfall (trek is approximately 3 hours roundtrip). Walkthrough the jungle on narrow trails to reach this waterfall, water flowing from the natural rocky cliffs tempts us to take a cool dip in this stream. Butterflies of different species flutter around the wildflowers. Visit Parmarth Niketan Ashram, famous for Ganga prayer ceremony, which takes place daily in the morning and evening. This Ashram also runs a school-based on traditional and cultural Indian pattern. This Ashram is open for all, with no discrimination based on race, gender, nationality, religion, caste or creed.
Vashistha Cave or Vashistha Gufa is an ancient cave where Sage Vashistha and his wife meditated for hundreds of years. According to Hindu tradition, Sage Vashista was a Manas Putra (human son) of Lord Brahma and one of the Saptarishi (great seven sages). Vashishta Gufa is in the middle of Gular trees and the sacred River Ganga. It is a perfect place for peace of mind and positive spiritual energy. At the end of the cave, there is a Shiv Linga where you find priests engaged in worship.
The beach outside the cave is a perfect setting to relax and reflect with nature after a deep meditation and silent introspection. You can have a beautiful experience of a sacred bath in the Ganges with Mantra chanting.
In the evening, enjoy the Prayer ceremony at Trivani Ghat.
